A5-2016-Nougat

Samsung has finally started the global Nougat rollout for the Galaxy A5 and A7 2016 handsets. The update comes as a rather much-needed respite for users who have been patiently waiting for Nougat to appear on their mid-ranger devices.

While the rollout for A5 and A7ย started in late April and mid may respectively, Samsung sure took its sweet time to make region specific firmware available to users worldwide. The Galaxy A5 and A7 2017 Editions are already running Nougat.

The new firmware updates arrives as build number A510FXX04CQE9 and A710FXXU2CQE3ย for Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 2016 and bumps up the OS to Android 7.0 Nougat. The update for A7 was initially rolled out in Asia and is now rolling out to other regions iteratively.

The A5ย variant on the other hand has updates rolling out in Mainland Europe and parts of Africa. Updates for Asian regions are still scarce, with only South and South-East Asia having receiving the update as of yet.

The Android 7.0 Nougat update brings various optimizations and improvements for Galaxy A5 and A7 2016 with UI enhancements being a major one. Other features include the native split screen mode, Doze mode, revamped notification shade, and an improved Settings menu.

Curiously enough, Samsung still seems uninterested in releasing Android 7.1 for majority of its mid-rangers, insisting on 7.0 instead. Samsung, as of now, has not announced its intentions of an iterative update to 7.1 for these devices which may imply another long wait in store for its users.
