Oxygen OS 3.5.9 for OnePlus 2 OTA update [Downloads available]

This has been a very busy month for the OnePlus software development team. Ranging from the Open Beta 18/9 updates for OnePlus 3/3T to the two consecutive official OTA update for the OnePlus 5 with Oxygen OS 4.5.2. Recently, the manufacturer released a small update for yet another device named OnePlus 2. This is a small network optimization that fixes a bug with VOLTE for several users. The update is small and only available in select regions and for select users. It is currently rolling out in India for VOLTE SIM card users. As the OTA isn’t public, it seems to be a closed OTA update available only for users facing the problem.

Earlier we have seen OxygenOS 3.5.8 for the OnePlus 2 which is quite stable. It brought similar updates. As the device is out of official support group, OnePlus 2 won’t receive any Android upgrades. Meaning, no Android 7.1.1 Nougat for the device. However, it most certainly would continue receiving bug fixes and, most likely, Android security updates. The device is currently on May 2017 security level.

This is meant for only select users with VOLTE issues on the OnePlus 2. If your device is not facing the issue, then you should not flash it.

In order to flash the full firmware package, flash via stock recovery or ADB sideload. If your device is rooted, then flash via latest TWRP.

How to download OnePlus 2 Oxygen OS 3.5.9 OTA update?

As we said earlier, the update is only for users with VOLTE issues despite the previous update that fixes the issues with network drop. Oxygen OS 3.5.7 did fix some critical bugs. However, if you are still facing the network drops and VOLTE issues, then you can request an OTA for the same.

Here is how to install OOS 3.5.9 onto OnePlus 2:

• Make sure your device is running official firmware with stock recovery.
• Make sure your phone is running on Oxygen OS 3.5.8.
• Head over to this form and request for VOLTE fix.
• Once your report is submitted, you will receive an OTA update notification.
• Download and install the OTA update from Settings app.
