Hydrogen OS H2OS 3.5 released – Is it Android 7.1.1 Nougat?

Hydrogen OS is an alternative ROM for the OnePlus devices. It is available for all of the manufacturer’s smartphones. Just to clarify, H2OS was developed for the Chinese variants of OnePlus phones and comes with no Google services or apps. So the only difference between Hydrogen OS and Oxygen OS is the gapps with little tweaks here and there.

With the launch of OnePlus 5, the software development team has also released a new H2OS v3.5 for the same. So the Chinese variants of OnePlus 3/3T shall receive the Hydrogen OS update soon. It is not clear whether the OS is based on latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat firmware or not. For what we know, H2OS 3.0 for Oneplus 3 is still stuck on the Android 7.0 Nougat. So the Chinese variant of Oneplus 5 might as well be running Android 7.0 and not 7.1.1.

H2OS 3.5 features & specifications

As we know H2OS is just Oxygen OS except for the Google services and apps. So it comes with all the Oxygen OS 4.5.1 for OnePlus 5 with a revamped OnePlus launcher, wallpapers, quick payments, reading mode, DND for Game, Shot on Oneplus, split screen function, custom themes, and much more.

How to download and install H2OS 3.5?

Hydrogen OS and Oxygen OS run parallel to each other, or at least when it comes to the Open Beta program. The official H2OS 3.0 is based on 7.0 Nougat, whereas, Oxygen OS 4.1.6 is based on Android 7.1.1. Both these devices are promised Android 8.0 O update in the future. The Beta program for OnePlus 5 will start soon and will certainly take the device to 7.1.1 Nougat update. Meanwhile enjoy the H2OS 3.5.
