How to root Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 on stock Android 7.0 Nougat update?

The Galaxy A5 and A7 are two of the of the latest Android phones from Samsung receiving the official Android 7.0 Nougat update this early. The only devices running Nougat are the Galaxy S8, S7 (Edge), S6 (Edge) (Plus), and Note 5. Moreover, the Samsung A3 is another device that just got the new OTA notification. This tutorial will show you how to root the Samsung Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 and install TWRP on most of their variants. The Nougat firmware is now termed as Samsung Experience and the prior used to be called TouchWiz.

There is a far more better way to root any Samsung device with CFAR. Unfortunately, the CFAR binaries have not been updated to support the stock A5 and A7 Nougat firmware. Hence, you will need to stick with the conventional way to root. Which is, first setting up a custom TWRP recovery and then flashing SuperSU zip to root. How to root Android 7.0 Nougat update on Samsung Galaxy A7 and A5?

Step 1: Enable USB Debugging and Advanced Reboot from Settings found under Developer Options on your device from. Tap on the Build Number several times to enable Developer Options.

Step 2: “Enable OEM Unlock” from Developer Options using the same method. This is important.

Step 3: Download the TWRP recovery for your Galaxy device. See to it that you have .tar file. Transfer it to PC.

Step 4: Reboot phone into Download/Odin Mode using the Advanced reboot option.

Step 5: Simply run the Odin3_3.12.exe file as administrator.

Step 6: While your device is still in the Odin Mode, connect your device to your PC using a USB cable. Make sure you have latest USB drivers.

Step 7: Make sure phone is Added!! into Odin. See in the Log tab.

Step 8: Add the TWRP recovery file to AP/PDA section.

Step 9: Once done, verify everything and proceed with TWRP installation by selecting Start button. Flash TWRP onto Samsung via Odin method.

Step 10: Transfer SuperSU zip to phone storage and Reboot device into the new TWRP recovery using advanced reboot.

Step 11: Tap on Install and flash SuperSU zip.

Step 12: Reboot to system.
