Pete Lau on Twitter Android O confirmed for OnePlus 3 and 3T by saying A lot of you have been asking so Im proud to say Android O will come to OnePlus 3 and 3T

The current CEO and the founder of OnePlus,ย Pete Lau, has confirmed that Android O version will be coming to the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T. There have been several discussions over the Android O update for the two flagship phones. The founder of OnePlus finally broke the silence today and tweeted confirming the same. The latest Android 8.0 O shall be compiled for the OnePlus 3 and 3T as well. However, there is no word as to when the update will be rolled out. As per our predictions, it should be released by the end of this year. This is because the official Android O from Google is still in Beta stage. Once the AOSP sources are updated to the public, we shall soon seeย it coming to the OnePlus.

Here is the quote from Pete Lauโ€™s tweet:

ย A lot of you have been asking, so Iโ€™m proud to say Android O will come to OnePlus 3 and 3T

What does this mean for other OnePlus phones?

The OnePlus 3 wonโ€™t suffer the same fate as that of OnePlus 2; which is next to aย forgotten device. At least not until the OnePlus 5 is launched. Though the OnePlus 2 will receive the Nougat update, it most certainly will be the last update the device will ever see. So if you own a OnePlus 2, you might as well settle for a 7.1.2 Nougat based custom ROMs like Lineage OS 14.1 or Resurrection Remix 5.8.3 Maybe, soon after the OnePlus

Moreover, OnePlus 5 is now at our footsteps and the launch date is as close to June 15, 2017. The new flagship device will be released with the latest Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box. As we know, the manufacturer already has the 7.1.1 Nougat update compiled for OnePlus 3/3T via official Oxygen OS 4.1.4 as well as the Open Beta 16/7. As the Android O comes to OnePlus 3, OnePlus 5 will be the first one to receive it before anyone else.

The next Oxygen OS Open Beta 17 for OnePlus 3 and Beta 8 for OnePlus 3T is set to release in the first week of June and could be as soon as tomorrow. Judging by the previous, Hydrogen OS Beta updates, the upcoming Open Beta updates could be the most stable OOS firmware until now.
