How to install Android 7.1.2 Nougat update on Nexus 6 via AOSP ROM?

The Motorola Nexus 6 is receiving an Android 7.1.2 Nougat build with a new AOSP based custom ROM calledย crDroid. Since it is a custom ROM, your device must be rooted with TWRP recovery setup. Once that is done, install the Android 7.1.2 AOSPย ROM normally. See the instructions below.

  • Download the crDroid ROM fromย hereย and transfer the file to internal storage.
  • Reboot into TWRP recovery. Turn off phone and press and hold volume down + Power buttons.
  • Take a full backup.
  • Wipe the previous ROM.
  • Install the new 7.1.2 ROM from the storage.
  • Flash Gapps for Android 7.1.
  • Flash the SuperSU 2.79 SR3.
  • Reboot to system.
