LG confirms that G4 and V10 will receive nougat 7.0

Here is some good news form the Korean smartphone manufacturer LG. Today, the South Korean LG website announced that LG G4 and the LG V10 will receive Android 7.0 Nougat starting with the G4 in Q2 and later in Q3 of 2017. Since last year the G4, which made its debut in April 2015, has already received 2 updates withย Androidย 6.0 Marshmallowย firmware. Similarly, the V10 was released in Q4 of 2015ย and now runsย on similarย Marshmallow build. Although the two stunning smartphones were a major hit all across the globe back then, LG decided to discontinue support as these phones have already become quite old.

With the launch of LG G6,ย the companyย has changed its mind and we hope to see LG rolling out the Nougat OTA by the end of 2017. However,ย LG has only displayed the schedule for the South Korean users. The international and US carrier variants of LG G4 are still skeptical. Check out the official letter from LG below.

LG G4 and V10 to receive nougat 7.0

As you can see, the official letter from LG has now confirmed Nougat for LG V10 and LG G4. The LG G6 will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. The LG G5 and V20 already run the newer Android v7.0.

Unfortunately, the Korean manufacturer has officially discontinued support for previous phones including LG G3, G2, and Optimus G. A smartphone maker usually only support a device for about 2 years. The only way to get these outdated devices to Nougat is via a custom ROM like Lineage OS 14.1.

The LG G5 receivedย Nougat firmware lastย year and is expected to receive a newer Android 7.1.1 this year. At the MWC 2017, Moreover, QHD wallpapers from LG G6 are already available for download.
