Download Oxygen OS 4.0 for OnePlus 3/3T OTA and stock firmware | Stable Android 7.0 Nougat

The stable Oxygen OS 4.0 is now available for download. Although the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T are already running on Android 7.0 Nougat, the major Chinese manufacturer has now released the stable version for the same with a new version of Oxygen OS 4.0. This is a great news for all the OnePlus users as their feedback have finally come to use. The new Oxygen OS 4.0 for OnePlus 3 and the 3T brings several new features and upgrades like a new and improved notifications design, Multi-Window View, improved settings menu design, Custom DPI Support, and much more. We have seen all of these in the Open Beta.

Even though the official Oxygen OS 4.0 is out, the Open Beta project for the OnePlus 3/3T shall continue. Hopefully, OnePlus development team is already looking forward to Android 7.1.1 support later this year. The Open Beta project may be numbered Open Beta 11 for OP 3 and Beta 2 for OP 3T. Meanwhile, you can go ahead and upgrade to the official Oxygen OS 4.0 from both – the stock Oxygen OS 3.2.8/3.5.4 or the Open Beta version. So stay tuned.

The easiest option to install the Oxygen OS 4.0 onto OnePlus 3 or 3T is the ADB sideload method. This is the most commonly used method for most of the Android devices. The users on the stable Oxygen OS, and not the Open Beta, shall receive an OTA notification. However, Beta testing users will have to install it via ADB sideload method. Other option is through a custom TWRP recovery which is also a good option for users who would like to keep root access on their phone.

How to update OnePlus 3/3T to official Oxygen OS 4.0 Nougat?

There are actually 3 ways to upgrade OnePlus 3 or 3T to Oxygen OS 4.0 Android 7.0 Nougat firmware. Firstly, for the non-rooted devices with stock recovery. Whereas, the second method is for rooted devices with TWRP recovery.

For users on stable Oxygen OS 3.2.8 for OnePlus 3 or on Oxygen OS 3.5.4 for OnePlus 3T, use the ADB sideload method for installation. This method has been explained in several of our previous posts.
