Download-and-Install-Marshmallow-OTA-for-Asus-ZenWatch-2

Following the Huawei Watch update v1.4 that brought Android 6.0 Marshmallow to it and many new features, here is another Android device receiving this update. The Asus ZenWatch 2 is being updated to Marshmallow over the air. According to users of the ZenWatch 2, the update was rolled out a while ago and it is runningย regionally. So not all Asus users will receive it at the same time. However, her we have the OTA URL capture for the Asus ZenWatch 2 and you can manually update it just like the Huawei Watch update 1.4

Apparently, all the Android wear seems to be receiving an update and the first among them are the stunning Huawei and Asus watches. According to the get prop updater script, it is indeed the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update with the build number WI502Q (wren) and WI501Q (sparrow) over the earlierย 5.1.1 LCB51 firmware. However, the update is available for the smaller version only. But we will update it once it is available. So go ahead and install the update using this simple tutorial and grab the OTA update from the download section below. Asos see how to install TWRP recovery on Android watch.

That I did different is move the file from download to C: the could be the issue cause?

No if the location was the problem the u would have a different error. Maybe the file is the issue. It’s either not correct for ur device or maybe the file did not download fully. Try redownloading it and also verify which among the two files is for ur device. Also check if u have a OTA notification from settings. Try the quick adb installer.

I didn’t get that error and I did rename it to someting like MEC23U.zip. However I did move the file to C: and not in any subfolder. I don’t exactly know why that would make a difference, but you might try it.

Guys, I tried to sideload this updated, and got an error device not found over and over again. Any suggestions?

Hey Victor, i was getting the same error.
what i did was, i put the watch into “Recovery Mode”. (Press button 5-10 sec until it shuts off, when you see the ASUS logo quickly swipe from top right to bottom left, it should say “Recovery Mode” at the top of the screen.)

once in “Recovery Mode”, select the “adb” option. (something in the lines of recover from abd”

Your PC should want to install drivers, go ahead and install them.

when drivers done installing, open command line.

and type “adb sideload filename.zip” file name being whatever you named it.
